Until recently the 20 mgd Hutchinson Pumping Station, built circa 1930, relied on the original pumps for 100% of its capacity. Because of the age and importance of the facility, Westchester County decided to upgrade the entire facility including pumps, appurtenances and services.
Working as subconsultant to CDM, Savin Engineers performed detailed design of all structural and plumbing facilities. This included the preparation of a design development report outlining existing conditions and proposing alternative design solutions and costs. Detailed design of structural systems included a new gantry support structure, a new mezzanine level, and modifications to the first floor support system. Plumbing services included new seal water system, sump pump design, and automatic sprinkler system.
